The Role;
An exciting opportunity to assist in the establishment of a state-of-the-art scientific computing core facility, employing HPC equipment, for research projects demanding supercomputing, We are seeking an experienced Head of High Performance Computing to establish, manage, develop and administer the HPC service and be responsible for Linux support services to researchers. This is a new role and is key to the research strategy. 

Job Description [BRIEF]; 
The post holder will be responsible for the cost-effective construction, deployment, long-term development and administration of our new federated HPC infrastructure and will work in close collaboration with research teams using HPC and other research groups within. 
The post holder will lead initiatives to raise awareness of HPC technologies, their capability and their use as well as acting as a key stakeholder in the determination of the strategy for high volume and high complexity data management. 
The post holder will work closely with the Director of Research to identify research computing priorities across the organisation and the resources required to deliver them. 
The post holder will be the key link between Scientific Computing and the core IT service, with a major role in aligning the work of the IT team to support the Institute’s scientific computing priorities. S/he will also have line management responsibility for the Scientific Computing Team. 
The post holder will undertake systems engineering, administration, maintenance and development of an HPC service for computational research applications. and will participate in l computational software development and code optimisation projects.

Key accountabilities

Develop specialist skills and expertise within a unique area of radiochemistry

Operate and develop computing systems to perform data handling and analysis of data

Apply and develop radiochemical and measurement techniques to quantify radionuclides present in samples and interpret the data

Maintain and develop databases and websites to efficiently archive diagnostic data Responsibilities

Provide advice to scientists in other disciplines on interpretation of radionuclide data relating to national security issues

Prepare internal radiochemistry reports and methods

Representation at international conferences and meetings on radiochemistry and present results of developments on data interpretation and interlab exchanges 

Qualifications

PhD or good honours degree in chemistry/ radiochemistry or an equivalent combination of qualifications, skills and experience

Knowledge

A broad knowledge of general chemistry

A sound knowledge of the theory and practice of radioanalytical chemistry and the measurement of radionuclides

Detailed knowledge of programming for database, spreadsheet and word processing applications

Awareness of health and safety regulations relating to work with chemicals/radioactive materials

          <description>My clients in West Central Scotland are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer- Product Sustainment

This role is commutable from Coatbridge, Motherwell, Wishaw, Glasgow, Greenock, Paisley.

Reporting into Engineering, this role is for a Manufacturing Engineer supporting sustainment of existing products.
Your main responsibility will be technical support of existing product lines and to contribute to the smooth running of the manufacturing line(s). 
You will be expected to become a 'product expert' who can take the lead on solving any issues with established products.

Responsibilities:
Development of improved processes and tooling.
Updating and refining documentation.
Building and optically aligning new or improved lasers and sub-assemblies.
Train the production staff and contribute to the smooth operation of the line.
Contribute to cost reduction and reliability initiatives.
Involvement in technical support for service and sales.

Duties include:
Creation of methods for new assemblies or processes.
Design and/or purchase of jigs, tooling and fixtures.
Definition of calibration and maintenance requirements for the above.
Environmental testing of products and assemblies.
First Article Inspection of new components or components from new suppliers.
Troubleshooting of all optical alignment issues.
Troubleshooting of electronic, power supply and other system issues.
Updating bills of materials.
Generation of corrective actions for problems encountered by production or suppliers.

Education and Work Experience:
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Good knowledge of optics or lasers is essential.
Knowledge of electronics, optomechanics or software would be advantageous.</description>
