My clients in Berkshire are looking for an Optical Design Engineer.
This role is commutable from Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Camberley, Egham, Staines, Slough, Rickmansworth, High Wycombe.
The role is ideally suited to an experienced Optical Engineer who is looking for a new challenge and opportunity. To work as part of a dedicated team carrying out optical design of a wide range of novel optical systems developing new techniques. You must be a practical person who is self-motivated and can (if necessary) work independently.
Candidates will have an opportunity to become fully involved in the engineering process. Initially you will receive training in methods for optical testing and on performance criteria in the optical lab. The role will develop with the candidate to encompass all aspects of optical engineering from discussing customer technical requirements through to detailed design and integration.
Appropriate training will be given to the right candidate to enable them to fulfil this challenging role.
Skills (Years Experience) :
Qualifications
Degree level in physics or physical science. An MSc/PHD in Optics would be advantageous.
Skills
My clients are looking for someone who wants to pursue a career in engineering rather than research. You must be able to demonstrate that you have practical skills perhaps with a hobby related to engineering. You must have previous experience in Optical Ray tracing (ideally using Zemax or ASAP).
Experience
Some industrial optical engineering design experience or work experience with ProEngineer, plastic materials or injection moulding would be an advantage.
